Hello Families,
I hope that you have been enjoying all of the extra snow (ice) days with your kids at home these past few weeks!
I'm sharing some photos below of students hard at work during math time. They are working together with partners to build hexagons out of different shapes and then recording the ideas they come up with. Throughout this activity they are having conversations with their friends about the names and attributes of different shapes. Being able to name and describe shapes are a few of our math goals for Kindergarten!
Next week, beginning on Monday 1/29/24, we will have a special visitor join our class for Body Safety Training, where kids will learn about how to keep their bodies safe. I'll email a letter from the teacher that will share more details what the kids will be learning, so be on the lookout for that and please let me know if you have any questions.
We are looking forward to having a classroom Friendship Festival on Wednesday, 2/14/24, where students can pass out cards (or valentines) to all of their classmates! Please help your child prepare cards/valentines for all of their friends. You can click HERE for a list of names. You can click HERE if you'd like to help out in the classroom!
We are looking forward to celebrating our 100th day of school in February. With all of the snow days, the tentative date for this celebration is on Wednesday 2/21/24 from 10:30-11:30. You can sign up HERE if you'd like to help out, but keep in mind that the date may change again with any more snow days. Some students have already brought their 100s Day Projects to school and we have enjoyed counting with them. Students can continue to send their projects to school whenever they are ready to!
Please continue to send your child to school with winter gear (including snow pants and snow boots) for as long as there is snow on the ground! If you need support in providing winter gear for your child, the school can help, so please reach out! Even after the snow has melted, I'd recommend some type of boot or outdoor shoes to protect your child (and our classroom) from all of the mud! Thanks for your support!
Just a reminder that next Wednesday, 1/31/24, is an early release day, with the school day ending at 1:0o p.m.
