Dear Kindergarten Families,
This week we started Project Lead the Way with Mrs. Manthey. See some photos below! We are learning that we can be engineers and help solve problems. This week we went on a scavenger hunt to look around for "pushes and pulls" at Thurston. PLTW will be on hold next week because of Earth Week, but then our schedule will continue through June!
We are starting a class collection of PENNIES as one of our math learning activities that will help us with counting and adding. If you have extra pennies you'd like to contribute to our class collection, please send them our way! We are also in need of mini-marshmallows and toothpicks for an upcoming math lesson and I welcome donations for our classroom!
We are looking forward to our next field trip, on Wednesday 5/8/24, to the Leslie Science and Nature Center for the Insect Investigations program. Permission slips are coming home tomorrow and can be signed and returned ASAP or by 5/1/24 at the latest. Please send in a $7 cash donation, if you are able, to cover the cost of your child or send a copy of their membership if they have one. Feel free to round up to support the fee for other students. You are welcome to sign up to chaperone by writing your name in the designated spot on the form, but spots on the bus may be limited (and some parents may be asked to drive and meet us there!)
Tomorrow is Thurston's (completely and totally optional!) Anything-But-A-Backpack Spirit Day for friends who want to participate. If they do participate, make sure they bring their things in a container that they are able to carry by themselves. Thanks for your support!
