Dear Kindergarten Families,
Last week we had a great time on our first field trip to the Plymouth Apple Orchard! We enjoyed riding the bus, learning about apple trees, going for a tractor ride to choose an apple, enjoying cider and donuts, and then writing about our trip when we returned. Thanks to all the parents who were able to join us! Thank you to Yiran and Alyssa for sharing some photos!
Winter is coming! We will plan to enjoy outdoor recess all year long, as long as the temperature and windchill are above 0 degrees. You may want to plan ahead by making sure that your child has all of the winter gear they need: a warm coat, hat, gloves or mittens, snow pants and snow boots. In addition, once students start wearing snow boots outside, they will also need to bring indoor shoes to change into. Please choose shoes that they are able to put on and fasten by themselves. Please don't send shoes with shoelaces unless they are pretty good at tying them already! Kids will bring home all of their belongings each day, so they will also need bags large enough for their things! If you are in need of support for winter gear (and for the holidays!), I encourage you to let me or our office staff know, because Thurston will be providing some support for families in need. You can also click here (a2schools.org/wintergiving) to find ways to receive and offer support!
Thank you to Sofia's Mom and Diana's Mom for reading aloud to our class!
