Dear Kindergarten Families,
One of our regular ELA (English Language Arts) activities in Kindergarten is Reader's Workshop. During this time, children choose books they want to read and find a good reading spot, after coming together as a group on the rug for the day's reading lesson. We are learning how to enjoy reading books together and how to take good care of our books in the classroom. We will be learning more strategies as the year moves on for how to read and share about books! See some photos below.
This week, students are bringing home ALL ABOUT ME bags in their folders. Please help them fill the bag with clues to share with the class about themselves so that we can all learn more about each other. They are welcome to bring these back to school anytime within the next month and we will plan to share 1 or 2 bags a day with the class.
Hispanic Heritage Month begins tomorrow and I'd love to invite parents and families of Hispanic heritage to bring a book that reflects their culture to read-aloud to the class during one of our closing circles. If interested, please send me an email! I'd also welcome suggestions of books we might like to get for our classroom library!
Curriculum Night is coming up next Tuesday, 9/19/23, from 6:00-7:15. Please note that our classroom presentation will take place from 6:45-7:15. Please find babysitters for your children and come join us in the classroom to learn more about Kindergarten!
