Dear Kindergarten Families,
This week in Kindergarten we have been enjoying working on our writing every day of the week. During Writer's Workshop, we start by meeting on the rug for a mini-lesson that gives us something to try while we write. We have learned that writers can think of their ideas and picture them in their mind before getting started. We've learned that we can draw pictures to share our ideas and label pictures with words when we're ready. We're learning that writers can work on their stories for more than one day. After our mini-lesson, we have time for about 10-15 minutes of independent writing at our tables (see some photos below!) During this time the teacher might visit for an individual conference. And then we end with some students sharing their stories with the whole class!
We are looking forward to our first field trip to Plymouth Orchard on (Tuesday, 10-17-23 might not work! Date TBD!) Students are bringing home permission slips this week. Please have your child return their signed permission slip, along with the suggested $8 cash donation if you are able, by next Friday. Feel free to round up the donation if you want to help pay the way for students who are unable to pay. It would be great to have 4 parent chaperones and the first parents to sign up HERE get a guaranteed spot on the bus! More parents are welcome, but will be asked to drive separately (unless we can make space on the day of!) If chaperones could also send in an extra $8 to cover their entrance fee, that would be appreciated! ****Update: We might need to change the date/time of field trip because buses were not available.... so I will keep you posted! Hold off on sending in permission slips for now!
We are also looking forward to our classroom Fall Party on Friday, 10-27-23, from 2:00-3:00. If you'd like to volunteer to bring a craft, game, or other activity, please do so HERE. I would love to have about 3-5 fun activities for kids to look forward to!
Please note that our library check out day is on Tuesdays! Students can return their library book by Tuesday of each week in order to be able to check out and bring home a new one.
Thank you to Liz's Dad for joining us to read-aloud to our class!
